- @f00Ucom used to be a happy member of
- Spreadpoint (and he still is, I
- suppose). What's so special about him?
- Let me explain.
-
- Ucom is a graphic-artist and a modem-
- trader. However, he decided to quit
- the scene for some time after the wall
- went down in Germany. Ucom decided to
- become a punk! And that's what he is
- right now. He's against all kinds of
- neo-Nazi's and is demonstrating for a
- better society. He has already been
- arrested and has been in a prison-cell
- for a night after a demonstration.

- When you first meet Ucom in his normal
- shape, you wouldn't think he was so
- radical, or should I say anarchistic?
-
- Well, punks are not too happy anymore
- in Germany, but certainly not in the
- former East-European countries. The
- neo-Nazi's in these countries are all
- former punks. When the communist
- regime still was active in these
- countries, being a punk was forbidden,
- and was generally seen as a challenge,
- just like some computer-users find it
- a challenge not to get busted. The
- police often raided secret meeting-
-
- @#@^
- places of punks and kicked them,
- locked them up without any reasons and
- did other terrible things to them. The
- punks did survive, but many of them
- were not pleased anymore with the
- ideals of the group. When the wall
- went down with the communism, the
- punks first thought that everything
- would be okay. Everybody would get a
- job and in no time the whole popu-
- lation would drive a ferrari etc. This
- was of course not true, so the punks
- decided that the capitalistic system
- is also bad.
-
- There were some punks, however, who
- saw the end of their situation. And as
- it always happens in such situations,
- they started to seek a target. This
- target was not too hard to find, and
- soon the new punks were born. They
-
- @^
- claimed that the bad situation in
- their country was the cause of certain
- ethnic minorities, like Gipsies or
- foreigners in general. These persons
- had to be driven out of the country,
- if necessary with violence. The punks
- did not agree and the new punks
- started to look for a new 'organi-
- sation'. In the newspapers they read
- that the ideals they supported were
- right-extremistic, so they formed the
- skinheads, or neo-Nazi's. They see a
- threat in foreigners, as said before,
- but also in punks.
-
- Now it happens more and more often
- that there are street-fights between
- punks and skinheads. And the punks
- seem to lose. In some cities, there
- are 8 skins at each individual punk.
- And above that, the skinheads have
-
- @#@^
- weapons. It all started with knives,
- but also guns are beginning to emerge
- now. These are easily obtainable,
- military bases are raided and guns are
- taken. The military structure is com-
- pletely gone anyway, so the soldiers
- can't really react.
-
- The police is also unable to react,
- because their 'equipment' is not so
- up-to-date anymore. People don't seem
- to realize that there's a new threat
- in these countries. Civil wars have
- already started, and perhaps it will
- end in a complete chaos in where
- everybody is fighting against every-
- body. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
